Teachers Council Boss abducted by unknown gunmen in Akwa Ibom

The Secretary of Teachers Registration Council, TRC, in Akwa Ibom, Mrs
Esther Essien was on Sunday kidnapped by unknown gunmen around Itu
Local Government Area of the state on her way back from church.
Confirming the abduction on Monday, the Director of State Security
Service, SSS, in Akwa Ibom, Toma Minti said, "I can confirm to you,
talk to the police. We are working on it, we understand she was
kidnapped around Itu."
The State's Commissioner for Education, Eunice Thomas, expressed
optimism that the victim would be released unhurt,
Ms. Thomas however ruled out possibility of the abduction being
masterminded by a staff of the ministry.
"You see, we are told that she drove alone back from the church, in
such case she is vulnerable," Ms. Thomas said.
A reliable source said the kidnappers werealleging that the husband,
being a politician, had not "serviced the boys,"
No specific amount had been demanded as ransom by the kidnappers.
However the Akwa Ibom State Police Command spokesperson, Etim Dickson
could not confirm the development because he is at Abuja for a
conference.
